Little Red Riding Hood, a story many people recognize from childhood as an innocent tale. Throughout history, various versions of this tale have been discovered and its true origin is often debated. This tale has historically been told orally and in many instances written. Geographic variations are seen in different versions of the tale and often have different tones ranging from humorous to gory. Oftentimes cautionary tales are told to children in order to get them to behave. In the case of Little Red Riding Hood, fear is often evoked to caution young girls not to travel on their own.
